Prayer Requests

We believe in prayer. You are welcome to submit your prayer requests. By simply asking, your needs will be uplifted in prayer by members of First United Methodist Church and/or staff members. Make you needs known in the way you are most comfortable:

  • Write a note on the Prayer Request Card by asking an usher. Fill out the card during worship and place it in the offering plate.
  • Call the church office (515-244-6209) with your request.
  • Email the church ( or ) and your request will be forwarded to the prayer-chain intercessory prayer ministry team.

Prayer Ministries
You are invited to be a part of our prayer ministry. Specific prayer opportunities include:

  • Prayer-chain Intercessory Prayer Ministry - if you wish to join the prayer chain telephone callers, call the church office, 244-6209.
  • Prayer Shawls
    • Prayer shawls are lovingly knitted and crocheted by members of the congregation. The shawls are blessed during a worship service. Then they are delivered to persons in need of the congregation’s prayers.
    • This group meets quarterly to discuss the ministry and pray for those who will receive the shawls. They also teach beginners!

If you are interested in making prayer shawls contact the Minister of Discipleship at and you will be contacted by the leader of the prayer shawl ministry team.

The Upper Room daily devotional guide and the devotional Alive Now are available in the church office.

"Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive." - Matthew 21:22
